Tsum comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo”, meaning vivid. Traditionally Tsum valley was a culturally distinct geographical area called “Tsum Tso Chucksums” which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory. It is the recently unlocked valley for the foreigners. Situated at an altitude arise from a 1905 m. at Lokpa to over 5093 m at Ngula Dhojhyang Pass on the Tibetan border. The valley occupies an area of about 1663 km square. Tsum valley popularly known as the “Hidden Valley” disc by the Bauddha HImal and HImal chuli to the west, Ganesh HImal to the south, and Sringi HImal to the North. This includes two remote villages development committee Chhekampar (upper Tsum) and Chumchet (Lower Tsum). The valley is especially untouched to modern flavor. Due to its immaculate state and remoteness, the ancient are still seen. The world has gone round for the new wilderness and seeks for new achievement but this hidden valley had been detached form all plumpness for centuries. As a result, the unique culture of this valley has remained intact.
The famous Kyimo Lung, a pilgrimage circuit in the central Trans-Himalaya, is well known for its centre of learning and meditation. Many Tsumbas report that they have seen or found the signs of Mehti, commonly referred as the “Yeti” or “Abominable snowman”.
Tsum valley is located against the majestic backdrop of the Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal and Bauddha Himal ranges providing ample of photo-opportunities pf snow-clad peaks.

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel

Day 02 : Free day in Kathmandu, explore the city on your own (or we can arrange guide & the car to look around).

Day 03 Kathmandu drive to Arughat Bazaar (8-9 hours)

We take an 8-9 hrs bus ride to Arughat Bazaar in Gorkha district. The village of Arughat is in two parts, on opposite sides of the Buri Gandaki. Arughat Bazaar is large, clean and prosperous with hotels and shops selling cloth, food and hardware.

Day 04 Arughat to LarpuBesi (880 m/ 6.30 hrs)

We pass small villages , many local people on the dust-road. Children playing. Rice-fields , millet , we follow the Buri Ghandaki upstream. We reach Liding and few meters after leaving Liding the dust roads ends and the trail starts. We cross a Gurung village and comes for the halt for the night at Larpubesi.

Day 05 Larpubesi to Khorlabesi (975m/ 6 hrs)

A few We follow the Buri Ghandaki upstream up and down through the jungle. View of the Shringi Himal ( 7187 m ). We follow the trail next to the river, some parts we walk through the riverbeds (like going to the beach ). Everywhere on the trail you can buy drinks and food. We walk through rice fields, could see many landslides on the trail, few suspension bridges, many waterfalls, mules , small villages , people with their different attire. We also see vegetables, sugar snaps , lentils , ginger , millet , beans , buckwheat bamboo during the trail. We reach Macha Khola, which is also the night stop for the trekkers, but, we continue walking further crossing the river and we come to Khorla Besi for the night.

Day 6 Khorlabesi to Jagat (1340 m/ 5 hrs)

After leaving Khorlabesi we come to another village, Tatopani. Before coming to Tatopani, we walk through the jungle and see a lot people working in the fields , houses , children. In some places the valley gets very narrow and the river makes a roaring noise. In Tatopani there is a hot water source. Local people use it as a “ shower”. Lunch in Dhoban (1070 meter.) After Dhoban We climb a well – crafted staircase over a ridge to Doban. Doban lies at the confluence of the Shiar Khola, which flows from the east, and the Sarpu khola, which flows from the west. we climb to Yaru , a beautiful camp-place in a broad valley After leaving Yaru we follow the river on the east bank. After about 45 minutes we cross the Buri Ghandaki by a suspension bridge and we go on to Jagat , a nice village with the first signs of Bhudhism. Today seen on the trail are landslides , waterfalls , the noise of small birds.

Day 7 Jagat to Lokpa (2240 m/ 6 hrs)

At Jagat, we complete the formalities of showing our permits for theTsum Valley trek at the check post and we follow the trail to Salleri and Sardibas to the suspension bridge crossing the Buri Gandaki again and climb to Philim. Philim is a very nice village to make camp. We get good views of Sringri himal as we continue up to the village of Philim at 1550m.This is a large Gurung village with fields of corn and millet. We follow the Burigandaki river, a little bit up and down , the trail is high above the river. After about two hours we get to the crossing where the Manaslu trail goes to the left and the Tsum Valley trail goes to the right. We climb through the jungle with pine trees , rhododendrons, ferns , bamboo. We see some small birds. We finally come to our stop for the night at Lokpa village.

Day 8 Lokpa to Chumling(2385 m/ 5hrs)

We tart today with passing through the jungle. We have lunch by a bridge crossing the Shiar Khola. Today we leave the Buri Ghandaki and from now on we will follow the Shiar Khola. From here we walk half an hour a little bit up and down and then we climb very steep to an altitude of 2270 meter. In some places the valley is very narrow. Very nice trail! We continue and descent to a bridge crossing the Shiar Khola and ascent to the village of Chumling. On the other side of the river you can see the village of Ripchet. Chumling is a village with a small monastery , many chortens and mani walls , a small school , some places to make camp.

Day 9 : Chumling to Chokkangparo (3011 m/5 hrs)

We follow the river , the trail goes up and down through the jungle, we pass a cave and a monastery. The valley gets narrow. We arrive in Rainjom. We follow the trail to Gho village and ascend. The trail is high above the river. Today also many chortens , mani walls , prayer flags. Rhododendron’s , oak trees , azalea’s and finally come to the village of Chokangparo, where we take our stop for the night.

Day 10 Chokkangparo to Nile (33360 m/5-6 hrs)

After leacing Chokkangparo , we continue the trail climb up gradually to Leru and Ngakya and we arrive on a kind of plateau. The hospitality and big smile on the faces of villagers makes the trail more enjoyable. We go to the village of Lamagoun and are allowed to visit the small, very old monastery. People carry doko’s with dung. After Lamagaun we continue , descend to the river and climb to Rachen Gompa , a very big monastery. We come to the village of Lar. In Lar there are may mules and traders. They come from the border with China ( over the Ngula Dhojyang (± 5100 meter ).It is amazing to be on a plateau after all the ups and downs ! Everywhere you look there are small monastery’s , chortens, mani walls , prayerflags , yaks. We follow the trail upstream and pass the villages of Phurbe , Pangdun ,and come to our stoppage place for the night, Nile.

Day 11 Day Hike to Mu Gumba & back to Nile (9 hrs)

We cross the Shiar Khola over a wooden bridge and continue high above the river. We also cross the tree line and see small flowers like azalea’s and gentians. We come to Mu Gompa , a big monastery. Mu Gompa is the last inhabited place in the Tsum Valley. Mu Gumba is located at the highest and farthest point in the Tsum valley, established in 1895 at the height of 3510m. After lunch we visit Mu Gompa and follow a small trail to a “hidden” nunnery : Dhephyodoma Gompa. We find the nunnery in a nearby valley (alt : 3900 meter ). Looking back we see the river deep down and many mules and yaks coming back from China. After the exploration of Mu Gumba and the surrounding, we retreat the trail back to Nile.

Day 12 Nile/Chule to Chokkang Paro via Rachen Gumba (3011/5 hours)

We descend down the trail, this time via Rachen Gumba, a nunnery. The nunnery is situated in the Shiar Khola Valley in the foothills of the mountains bordering Nepal and Tibet. And then the same trail to Chokkang Paro.

Day 13 Chokkangparo to Ripchet (2470 m/5-6 hrs.)

We leave Chokkangparo, and follow the trail of Dumje & to Rainjom and to the village of Ripchet. To reach Ripchet, we have to pass through dense forest and we have to cross two wooden bridges. Nice view. Ripchet is a big village witch ± 60 houses. We are welcome to have a look inside one of the houses as well. Nice Village to have a rest for the night.

Day 14 Ripchet to Eklebhatti (1600 m/6 hrs)

Retreat the trail.

Day 15 Eklebhatti to Dovan (1070m/7-8 hours)

Retreat the trail.

Day 16 Dovan to Laprubesi (880/7-8 hours)

Retreat the trail.

Day 17 Laprubesi to Arughat Bazar (608/6 hours)

Retreat the trail.

Day 18 Arughat Bazar drive to Kathmandu (8-9 hours)

We drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 19: Free day in Kathmandu

Day 20: Final departure, transfer to airport.
