Helambu trek begins from Sundarijal or Melamchi Pul, the area offers great views of the majestic Himalayas from Mt. Annapurna to Everest with a range of cultures. During our trek through the foothills of Helambu is stunningly picturesque with the peaks of the Jugal and Langtang Himals offering a very impressive backdrop to what is a charmingly un spoilt and un trekked area. These mountains dominate the northern horizon while line after line of foothills roll away south towards the Kathmandu Valley.
The people of Helambu with their religion and monasteries show rich Buddhist culture. At lower elevations along the edges of the park, other mid hill tribes and castes reside including Bramins, Chhetries, Newars and some Gurung. The region is corrugated by a number of narrow ridges and deep-forested valleys running north-south through which flow the headwaters of the Sun Kosi river - the Yangri and Larkye, with the Melamchi Khola being the westernmost tributary. The walk through forest of rhododendron with time to admire its beauty and passing through charming villages of Melamchi, Tarkyegang and Shermathang before coming to an end of this beautiful trek at the road head for the drive to Kathmandu.
